Complete your American Heart Association HeartCode® BLS blended learning with hands-on skills training at Arizona Premier CPR.
HeartCode BLS combines self-paced online learning with a required hands-on skills session. After completing the online portion, students attend an instructor-led session to practice and demonstrate BLS skills before certification can be completed.
Already completed HeartCode BLS online? Register for a BLS Hands-On Skills Session to complete your certification requirements.
HeartCode BLS uses the American Heart Association's blended-learning format. Your BLS training is completed in two parts:
Complete the AHA HeartCode BLS online learning portion independently. The interactive course covers the knowledge and decision-making components of BLS training.
After finishing the online portion, attend an instructor-led hands-on skills session at Arizona Premier CPR. You will practice and demonstrate the required CPR, AED, ventilation, and team-response skills.
After both portions have been successfully completed and all course requirements have been met, you will receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years.
Completing HeartCode BLS online does not by itself complete your AHA BLS certification.
HeartCode BLS is the online portion of the American Heart Association's blended-learning BLS course. A required hands-on skills session must also be successfully completed before an AHA BLS Provider eCard can be issued.
This format combines the flexibility of online learning with instructor-guided CPR skills practice and testing.
HeartCode BLS is a convenient option for healthcare professionals and students who need AHA BLS certification but prefer to complete the classroom learning portion on their own schedule.
Blended learning can be a good fit for:
If you prefer completing all of your BLS instruction directly with an instructor, our traditional classroom BLS course may be a better option.
Your hands-on session allows you to apply the knowledge learned during HeartCode BLS and demonstrate your ability to perform BLS skills correctly.
Training and evaluation may include:
The goal is not simply to “check off” a certification requirement. Your instructor will help reinforce proper technique and ensure required skills are successfully demonstrated.
If you purchased and completed HeartCode BLS independently, please have your valid HeartCode BLS online completion certificate available so your completion can be verified before your skills session.
If your HeartCode BLS online course was assigned directly through Arizona Premier CPR, we may already have access to your completion status. Complete the online portion before attending your scheduled hands-on session.
The HeartCode BLS online portion is self-paced and generally takes approximately 1–2 hours to complete. Hands-on skills session time varies depending on student experience, class size, skills practice, and required testing.
Please allow sufficient time to complete all required skills and course activities rather than planning around a guaranteed finish time.
No separate “HeartCode certification” is issued. After successfully completing both HeartCode BLS Online and the required hands-on component, students receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider course completion eCard, valid for two years.
HeartCode BLS is not an online-only certification. It is the American Heart Association's official blended-learning BLS course format, combining online learning with required hands-on skills practice and testing.
However, employers, schools, and licensing organizations may establish their own training requirements. If your employer specifically requires an entirely instructor-led classroom course, confirm their policy before choosing HeartCode BLS.
